They manufacture the processors the type of processors simply depends on the NUMBER OF CORES like dual, quad, octa. Mobile

Processor comparison is done to know about the performance and efficiency of the processor. We will be discussing and comparing top flagship processors including Apple A13 bionic, Huawei Kirin 990, Samsung Exynos 990 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 in brief.

Apple-designed CPU- Two performance cores tackle heavy computational tasks, and four efficiency cores take on everyday tasks. Their newest performance controller dynamically divides work access to these cores, harnessing all six when a power boost is needed. It is manufactured by TSMC on their 2nd generation 7 nm and contains 8.5 billion transistors


The Apple A13 Bionic features an Apple-designed 64-bit ARMv8.3-A six-core CPU, with two high-performance cores running at 2.65 GHz and four energy-efficient cores. The Lightning cores feature machine learning accelerators called AMX blocks. Apple claims the AMX blocks are six times faster at matrix multiplication than the Apple A12’s Vortex cores. The AMX blocks are capable of up to one trillion 8-bit operations per second.

Apple claims the two high-performance cores are 20% faster with a 30% reduction in power consumption, and the four high-efficiency cores are 20% faster with a 40% reduction in power when compared to the A12


Apple-designed GPU: A new fourth core and lossless memory compression big gains in graphics performance to games, video, editing, and visually demanding apps.
4-core GPU: The A13 integrates an Apple-designed four-core graphics processing unit (GPU) with 20% faster graphics performance and 40% lower power consumption than the A12 Bionic. 


Apple claims their A13’s eight-core Neural Engine dedicated neural network hardware is 20% faster and consumes 15% lower power than the A12.

Huawei Kirin 990


Kirin 990 5G is a 64-bit high-performance mobile ARM 5G SoC designed by HiSilicon. Fabricated on TSMC’s enhanced 7nm+ EUV process, the 990 5G incorporates 2X high-frequency Cortex-A76 cores operating at 2.86 GHz, 2X medium frequency Cortex-A76 cores operating at 2.36 GHz along with 4X Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 1.95 GHz.

Compared to the 980, the 990 5G features between 10% – 35% power efficiency due to the 2nd generation of 7nm process node. The 990 ballooned to over 50% more transistors from 6.9 billion in the 980 to 10.3 billion.

Exynos 990

It comes in an octa-core CPU configuration, with 2X custom Samsung M5 CPU cores, two Arm Cortex A-76 cores, and 4X Arm Cortex A-55 cores. It is a 2+2+4 combination of cores which is similar to what you would find in Exynos 9820 and Exynos 9825.


It comes with the Mali-G77 MP11 GPU, where eleven (11) signifies the number of cores or number of execution engines. 


It uses an NPU which you will also find on the Exynos 9820 and 9825, but the additional thing you will get is a DSP, a digital signal processor, which could also be used for some kind of neural networking, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to give an overall performance boost than the previous generation NPU.

Snapdragon 865

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Specifications, flagship processors 2020

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is built on TSMC’s 7nm FinFET process. It offers a 25% performance boost and efficient over the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855.


The Snapdragon 865 has got the Kryo 585 CPU design which is a set up of four Cortex-A77 and four Cortex-A55 cores.

Snapdragon 865 comes with an Adreno 650 GPU which has the same architecture as that of Adreno 640 and 630. Adreno 650 has a 25% overall performance boost and 35% more efficient as compared to Adreno 640 of Snapdragon 855.


It has got 2X AI performance, and 4X tensor performance in the tensor processor in the DSP compared to Snapdragon 855. Qualcomm has boosted the machine learning capabilities of the Snapdragon 865, you have got 15 tops (Tera operations per second) inside of the AI engine. They have included a sensor hub which is an always On-sensor hub that runs on very very low power.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000

Mediatek Dimensity 1000 specifications, flagship processor from mediatek, mediatek processor


It is built on a 7nm FinFet SoC process technology, which is the same as Qualcomm, Samsung, Apple, and Huawei. It comes with an incredible processing powerhouse of four Cortex A-77 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex A-55 cores clocked at 2 GHz. All the eight cores are partnered to a low-latency last-level cache to improve performance and power-efficiency even further.


It comes with a leading GPU from ARM to give gamers immense graphics at their fingertips i.e Mali G-77 MC9 (with nine cores), where Samsung’s Exynos 990 has got eleven G-77 cores.

HyperEngine 2.0 enhances the whole smartphone experience, through networking enhancements that predict network traffic to reduce the latency for smooth gameplay; rapid responsiveness that shaves milliseconds off touchscreen input to display and audio actions; and picture quality enhancements that auto-optimize the frame settings.


It has also got a neural processing unit i.e. APU, they call it an AI processing unit to make it different from other NPUs from other companies. This APU has six AI processors (two big cores, three small cores, and a single tiny core) to meet smartphone AI needs, which is a quite interesting development by MediaTek. APU 3.0 gives 2.5X better performance than APU 2.0.
